Demonstrators protest at teargassed marking the twenty-third anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence.

The weekly march organized by the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Bil'in commemorated the signing of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence in 1988, and included
dozens of Palestinians and international activists and Israeli peace activists.
Despite bad weather and heavy rain, the march began from the center of the village after Friday
prayers, and proceeded to the village country that was liberated with the removal of the security fence in June. Participants raised Palestinian flags and pictures of former leader Yasser Arafat, and shouted patriotic slogans calling for the departure of the occupation and destruction of the apartheid wall, and expressed solidarity with Palestinian prisoners. Upon the arrival of participants to the Abu Lemon nature reserve, participants managed to remove pieces of the barbed wire fence surrounded the concrete wall, then the soldiers fired tear gas behind the wall toward the participants. Following this, some participants threw stones over the wall. Throughout the demonstration, around a dozen youths from the Modi'in Illit settlement stood in close proximity and shouted obscenities and racist statements against the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon
him.
